On the weekend 22nd /23rd September Essex Section member Rick Lovegrove went down to Pendine Sands ‘Top Speed Record’ attempts . Saturday was greeted with awful weather strong winds and raining all day. The organisers found a piece of sand above what was the high water line which had been packed down by the heavy rain and managed to squeeze in a half mile course.

Rick reached a terminal speed of 123,02 over that short distance which gave him the official speed record for half mile standing start.

On Sunday the sun made an appearance mid morning and dried things nicely.

A mile course was set up and although the sand was still a bit soft and quite ripply some good times were set. Rick set a terminal speed of 140.53 which was the fastest in the class and also gained the official speed record for the one mile.

Congratulations Rick for a successful weekend.
